China Construction Bank relocated to Old Broad Street in the City of London after obtaining the freehold of the building. The building comprises 106,000 ft2 of office space arranged over Lower Ground, Ground and floors 1-6. China Construction Bank occupied 50,000ft2 over the Lower Ground, Ground, 4th, 5th and 6th floors with a head-count of approximately 250 – 270 staff.

Will worked on the  refurbishment and fit out of the 6th floor and the fit out of the 4th, 5th, lower ground and ground floors. The ground floor space of 7,690 ft2 was carved out  to approximately 3,000 ft2 to form a flagship retail Banking and wealth management units, with the remainder of the floor as office use.

In addition to this we re-arranged their existing space (10,000 sq ft) in 40 Bank St Canary Wharf retaining approximately half as a Disaster Recovery site and enabling the other half to be sub-let.

The project includes high quality design and finishes that commensurate with the client’s position in the market place, making a statement that demonstrates this without appearing to be extravagant. Open plan areas are functional but light, inviting for staff to feel they work in a modern vibrant workplace. The flagship retail and wealth management units are CCBL’s first in the UK and will be a blueprint for future European retail units.
